Public Consultation Regarding Worcester Woods Retail Development
As you may be aware, Land Securities are looking at developing land to the south of Newtown Road known as Worcester Woods into a 240,000sq.ft. shopping destination which could include a John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Next and Sainsburys. A planning application is due to be submitted by the end of the year and they have just announced a public exhibition which will take place between noon and 7pm on Friday 19th September on the Lower Ground Floor of the Hive as well as between 10am and 3pm at the same venue on Saturday 20th September. The BID Board are keen to inform all BID businesses about this public consultation event and to encourage you to attend, find out more and have your say on the development as you may have an opinion on how it might affect your businesses and the city centre generally, positively or negatively. The website for the development is www.worcesterwoodsretail.co.uk which will be updated following the public exhibition to include detailed plans.
This is a high profile, large development and we would be delighted to receive any feedback you have, for or against, so that the BID Board can get a feeling of what businesses think to the plans. If you have any comments, please email Adrian.email@example.com or call 01905 731612.
The launch of our new publication ‘Uniquely Yours’ takes place on Tuesday 23rd September at The Commandery and is part of our Uniquely Worcester campaign which aims to promote our wonderful independent businesses. 151 independent BID businesses who signed up have a free full page feature of their business have been invited to the launch. The book will be distributed to key locations throughout Worcestershire and beyond and is a fantastic way to showcase the range and quality that we have. If you have been invited but haven’t replied yet, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01905 731612.
Customer Service Awards
The Worcester Whitehouse Hotel is the setting for the 4th Annual Customer Service Awards ceremony on Monday 29th September. 76 businesses have asked to have a mystery shop or assessment as a physical visit, telephone call or email (or all three!) and they have all been invited to attend. The results will be announced on the night along with each business receiving a confidential report on how their business performed. Winners will be announced on the night via social media and we hope that there will be great media coverage for the winners as usual. The aim of the assessments is to drive up standards of customer service in the city centre in order to generate more repeat customers for us all. The event is hosted by Free Radio Breakfast Show Presenter, Helen Wheels.
