17/03/2014 – Visit England Flood Recovery Workshops

We have been asked to promote the email below regarding the flooding grant package which is available to tourism related businesses and the briefing which takes place on Wednesday. Please note that we have been informed that retailers are classed as tourism businesses in this case. If you have any queries, please contact Destination Worcestershire directly.

Tourism Events 2014
In Partnership With VisitEngland

Responding to Extreme Weather

Whilst the majority of tourism businesses have been unaffected and the message has been ‘business as usual’, VisitEngland research shows that 10% of consumers have been put off taking a trip to affected areas.

The Government recently awarded a £2 million tourism package to VisitEngland, the national tourist board, to support destinations and tourism businesses affected by the recent floods and extreme weather conditions.

VisitEngland has partnered with a number of destinations affected by the floods to organise a series of events around the country where tourism businesses can gain free access to experts on: business continuity, communications & social media, marketing and legal issues to ensure greater resilience against severe weather conditions in the future.

We have organised 3 events in Worcestershire and will also be assisting to deliver an event in Hereford City before the end of March. If you are interested in attending the Hereford City event please email us and we will keep you informed of the event details.

Events include lunch, there are limited spaces and you must pre-book. Events are open to all tourism businesses as the industry as a whole can be affected by adverse weather conditions.

To register your attendance at one of these events
email tourism@visitworcestershire.org

You will need to supply the name of your business,
person attending and which event date and location.

You will receive a confirmation email and a reminder email
sent 3 days before the event, please supply the correct email for this.

Holidays at Home are GREAT!

Additional Government funding will support a tactical marketing campaign launching on 19 March to drive bookings for the Easter period. The campaign will use a mix of print, digital, and outdoor platforms featuring affected destinations as well as others across England. This will be an additional ‘Holidays at Home are GREAT’ campaign featuring Wallace and Gromit and will run across cinema, Video On Demand, TV and digital display.

Destination Worcestershire have already provided information to Visit England for this campaign to ensure we are an important featured region.
