From Sunday 1st December to mid-January, Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum and The Commandery will be running an ‘Advent Calendar’ promotion. Members of the public will be asked to find 24 images of objects from the museum’s collections hidden in the city centre and fill in their locations on their downloaded Advent Calendars to enter a prize draw.
We would like to use the Advent Calendar as an opportunity to support local and independent businesses around Worcester, by placing one of the museum images in your shop. This provides the opportunity to increase footfall and raise awareness of your business as the public will have to enter the venue to find the image and can therefore see what the business offers.
Images would need to be displayed from the first day of the trail (Sunday 1st December) to mid-January (date tbc), in order to make the trail more accessible to members of the public who join late, or are unable to enter the city centre regularly.
We are asking for 24 businesses to display an image, and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. At the end of the trail all those who have completed it will be entered into a prize draw to win exclusive behind-the scenes tours of the City Art Gallery & Museum and The Commandery.
The Advent Calendar Trail is part of Museums Worcestershire’s project ‘Strengthening Museums and the Visitor Economy in Worcester’. The aim of this is to raise greater awareness of heritage and museums in the city at the same time as increasing our contribution to Worcester’s visitor economy.
The Advent Calendar Trail is being produced by Imagineer, who are also providing events for Museums Worcestershire within the Worcester Christmas Fayre.
If you are interested in displaying one of our Advent Calendar pictures please contact Beth Broadway at Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum, e-mail: BBroadway@worcestershire.gov.uk or call 01905 25371.
We would greatly value your participation in the Museums Worcestershire Advent Calendar promotion and believe that it will be an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of Worcester’s businesses and museums.
