Motor Festival a Roaring Success

Motor Festival logoLast Saturday’s Worcester BID Motor Festival saw a whopping increase of 28% in footfall in the city centre compared with the previous Saturday. Excellent weather, a great mix of new and vintage cars, street entertainment and businesses getting involved with offers, window displays and trails all combined to raise the profile of the city centre. Congratulations to The Paintbox Gallery in Mealcheapen Street and to Birch Hill Dog Rescue in Reindeer Court for winning the professional and public votes for the Best Dressed Window competition respectively.

Over 110 independent BID businesses have signed up to Uniquely Yours, the new publication Uniquely Yours promoting independent businesses in Worcester which will be out in September. The aim of the publication is to promote our great range of ‘indies’ which help to make Worcester city centre the fantastic place it is. Many of these will have already met our professional photographer taking high class shots of each participating premises. The full page advert (and photos) are part of your BID levy contribution so get involved! If you haven’t signed up yet and are independent, it isn’t too late but hurry. First Aid

After running our 4th 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work training course of the year last week, we have received yet more requests from businesses wanting to send staff. As a result, we are looking at running another course in July, possibly two depending on demand. If you are keen, please email info@worcesterbid.com with your details or call Hazel Shephard, BID Co-ordinator on 01905 731612. The accredited training is free to BID businesses as part of your BID levy and takes place during the day.

Rapid Success at WCCC

Employees of BID businesses are being offered £5 off a great package at Worcestershire County Cricket Club ahead of the Worcestershire Rapids’ first home NatWest T20 Blast match next Friday. Full details for what will be a great evening are below. There is also £5 off general admission if you want to buy a standard ticket which is usually £17 in advance. Keystones Cocktail Club Cops First Prize

Congratulations go to Keystones Cocktail Club in Copenhagen Street who scooped two 1st prizes for their Head Bartender (who entered for the first time) and the bar itself in a recent Courvoisier cocktail competition.


Workplace Heroes and Villains: Are you supporting your best people or encouraging your worst?

Taking place at The Hive Studio, 16th June 2014, 5.30pm Arrival, tea and coffee and 6pm-7pm Seminar

Rebecca Jones will take you on an exploration of how coaching can be used to enable your employees to reach their full potential and how you can evaluate just how successful your coaching program is.
Holly Andrews then looks into the dark side of employees, discussing how individuals with negative characteristics can be successful in organisations and what you can do to protect yourself.

Workplace Heroes
Rebecca’s talk will introduce the topic of workplace coaching and discuss some of the challenges related to the field. In particular, Rebecca will explore how coaching (and other types of learning and developing) can be evaluated to ensure that you are getting a good return on investment and your organisation’s coaching interventions are effectively helping to bring out your employees inner heroes.

Workplace Villains
Holly’s talk will discuss the topic issue of “workplace psychopaths”, covering just what psychopathy is, why those with psychopathic traits can come to be successful in organisations and what the effect of employing a “workplace psychopath” might be. On a practical level the ways in which organisations can protect themselves will be explored, as will ways of managing workplace psychopaths.
