Projects across the City

In 2024, Worcester BID took ownership of a long-neglected area of land. Partnering with Spring Forward Landscaping and Worcestershire County Council, we transformed the overgrown and unsafe space on Lower Broad Street. We removed broken glass and other hazardous debris from the thick brambles. After some unfortunate damage, this area is set to receive a bug hotel and new plants for the summer to refresh its look. Keep an eye on the space!

Worcester also boasts a managed city centre park. Did you know that Worcester Riverside Park is over 80 hectares! The park is located along the banks of the River Severn, in and around the outskirts of Worcester City centre and includes Diglis Island, an island within the River Severn downstream of the city centre.

The River Severn flows southward through the city, with the Severn Way and Route 46 of the National Cycle Network passing through the park. This park serves as an important green corridor, connecting various parks and green spaces while supporting biodiversity. It facilitates the movement of wildlife populations separated by human structures. As of 2014, 225 plant species and 33 bird species have been recorded.

The park also includes the city’s swan sanctuary, home to up to 200 swans. Swan food is available for purchase at various locations in the park and at the Cathedral.
