Our Planters
City dressing providing biodiversity and urban design.
In 2022, Worcester BID installed 20 new planters throughout the city, with assistance from local suppliers and gardeners. These planters can now be found on Friar Street, New Street, and Church Street, and they are maintained by the local business Plantamamita. Seasonal displays are planted to ensure vibrant foliage, shrubs, and flowers throughout the year.
Greening and rewilding projects, such as providing city planters, can benefit both our planet and Worcester by improving air quality, promoting biodiversity, and enhancing the attractiveness of urban landscapes. Planters are excellent urban design elements as they absorb carbon dioxide, create spaces for wildlife to thrive in an urban environment, and boost community morale. Additionally, they have been shown to provide economic benefits, increasing dwell times in well-decorated areas and offering photo opportunities for visitors.
