A Journey of Ethics and Artistry: The Story Behind Worcester’s Ganesha
Ganesha has spent over eight years cementing itself as a true staple of Worcester’s independent retail scene, bringing a vibrant, ethical, and global touch to Chapel Walk. Step inside their warm, scent-filled store, and you are instantly met with an eclectic world of bohemian clothing, sterling silver jewellery, and hand-carved home decor.
But the true beauty of Ganesha lies in the journey behind every single item on its shelves.
Established originally in 2007 and opening its Worcester doors in 2018, the business has grown significantly without ever wavering from its core mission: delivering 100% ethically sourced handicrafts directly from India and Nepal. By bypassing massive commercial supply chains, Ganesha bridges the gap between ancient South Asian craftsmanship and the modern high street. Every purchase directly supports sustainable livelihoods, ensuring traditional weavers and artisans thousands of miles away receive a fair wage for their intricate skills.
Reflecting on their journey and the local community’s support over the past 8 years, the Ganesha team shared:
“Ganesha Handicrafts has been bringing the world to Worcester since April 2018. We share ethically sourced clothing, jewellery, and home treasures with customers.
Owner Mr Sharma personally sources every piece from India and Nepal, the regions he grew up in. He partners directly with skilled craft workers who earn fair wages creating beautiful soft furnishings, decorative items, colourful bags, flowing clothing, and stunning 925 sterling silver jewellery. You’ll also find soothing incense and crystal gifts.”
As they look ahead to many more years in Chapel Walk, Ganesha remains the perfect destination for finding a unique, beautiful gift with a genuine story.
