FacebookNational Trust property Greyfriars House and Garden revealed that its second-hand bookshop has raised an impressive £4,281 over the past year.

The funds, generated entirely through public book donations and subsequent sales, will directly support the vital conservation and maintenance work at the historic city-centre property.

Located at No. 14 Friar Street, the popular bookshop has become a staple for local avid readers and visitors alike, offering a curated selection of pre-loved books. The initiative highlights a successful community-driven model of sustainable fundraising for the heritage site.

“This is a fantastic achievement by the team at Greyfriars,” said the Worcester BID Team. “Every single purchase and donation plays a critical role in preserving this wonderful piece of Worcester’s history for future generations.”

The bookshop operates Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Management notes that the shop relies on the generosity of the public and continues to welcome donations of good-quality books to help sustain the initiative into the coming year.

For locals looking for their next great read, a visit to Friar Street offers the perfect opportunity to discover a hidden gem while directly contributing to the preservation of Worcester’s local heritage.
