Located on Deansway beside Huntingdon Hall, the Elgar School of Music has been a vibrant musical hub in the city centre since opening its doors in 1983. Founded to make high-quality music education accessible to everyone, the school remains Worcester’s only dedicated, specialist music tuition centre.

Over the past 40-plus years, the independent school has nurtured thousands of musicians of all ages and abilities. Housed in specially adapted buildings equipped with practice studios and a dedicated recital room, the school offers individual tuition in everything from classical strings, piano, and brass to woodwind, vocals, and music theory.

Beyond one-to-one lessons, the school fosters a warm community through group ensembles—including Mini Music Makers for toddlers, folk and jazz bands, string orchestras, and regular student performance recitals.

The team added:

“We are proud to be Worcester’s longest standing specialist music school. Founded in 1983, we have been providing music lessons, group music making, workshops, and special events for over 40 years! We celebrate music making in all forms and offer music for all ages, interests, and abilities. We are delighted to welcome newcomers to music, those who play already, returners, as well as continuing professionals.”

As the Elgar School of Music moves into its next chapter, the team is looking forward to welcoming new pupils, expanding their workshop offerings, and continuing to enrich Worcester’s local arts scene.
