Worcester’s traditional weekly outdoor market is enjoying early success following its move to the Cornmarket.
Under new management with operator Bluebell Events, the Thursday and Saturday market relocated from Angel Place, transforming the open space into a lively shopping destination. The reaction from both visitors and local businesses has been overwhelmingly positive, with traders reporting strong footfall.
Beyond bringing a fresh variety of local goods and produce, the move has noticeably improved the approach into the city centre. Whether arriving on foot or passing in the car and noticing the stalls, or walking from the direction of Asda and Lowesmoor, commuters and shoppers are greeted by a vibrant, active streetscape that enhances the overall look and atmosphere of the area.
The market operates every Thursday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm, offering everything from artisan produce to everyday essentials.
Mayor of Worcester, Cllr Tor Pingree, officially opened the new market and said she welcomed the return to the historic market square. Also in attendance, Cllr Hannah Cooper praised the new market’s setup and location, highlighting how the Cornmarket benefits from footfall heading to St Martin’s Quarter.
The relocation marks a successful new chapter for Worcester’s independent trading scene, turning Cornmarket into a key focal point for city centre activity.
